PPF, Paint Party Friday, Painting Pigs again

Meet Pig Newton, A "Smooshy" pig I painted this week for Wendy
6x6 on wood panel using slow dry acrylics

And I have been painting rolodex cards and ATCs and Twinchies and then swapping them with a great group of friends on Facebook.  We play games like "Make Me Happy" and "Play It Forward" and "Traveling Journals" and "Hitchhiker" all of which are loads of fun.

Art News 4/20/13: A Scholarship, a Cat, 2 Pigs, a baby & Art Abandonment

What have I been up to lately? Well . . . It's been a busy week.

My daughter Gina M, The Go To Artist, won a nice scholarship in a ceremony last night at Pasadena City College . . .

. . . and I dropped off my 2nd Art Abandonment Piece which we pinned to a locker at the college.

It's a tiny 2.5" x 3.5" canvas with a painting of flowers in a vase and includes its own easel for display.  I do one a month, when I find the perfect place to leave it.

I finished the cat I have been working on as a present for my son, Tony and his wife Teri.  He never reads my blog so it won't spoil the surprise.  Mailing it tomorrow.

I finished Nestor the Pot Bellied Pig so he can go on auction at Ebay next week, if he doesn't sell in Daily Paint Works.

This week's pig auction is Kaylee and she is really funny looking.  I paint one pig a week for Ironwood.
All of the money gets donated to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary, and so far since starting this project March 1, 2013, over $500 has been donated to help the more than 600 pigs they shelter there.

I am sending one of my little watercolor ATC cards to a lady overseas in Britain who just had a baby and a group I am in is having a virtual baby shower for her.  Luckily I had this card left over from one I did for Nibblefest Last month.

So that reminds me that I submitted 3 paintings today to Nibblefest today for April NFAC - all starting at 99 cents.  See my Ebay Auctions to bid on these.

Looking UP, watercolor 5 x7

Looking Up Again, watercolor 5 x 7

Magical Forest, Acrylic on Masonite Board, 9 x 12

I think that's all.

PPF Paint Party Friday, New Piggy, Nestor

My Pet Pig Painting of the week for Paint Party Friday
Nestor, the pot bellied pig, lives at Ironwood Pig Sanctuary

He will go on sale next week after I figure out if the place where his chin meets his water dish needs more work.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I have  been working on this for a week, and I can't decide if it's done.

Thanks!

Traveling Journals for ATC cards

Robin Buys, ATC for Traveling Journal #2, Beach Theme

I just joined another GROUP on FACEBOOK.  This time, I will be participating in Traveling Journals for ATC cards.  If you want to know more about it, go to:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/ATCtravelingjournals/

here is what it says on the page:

"For those interested in creating ATC traveling journals and swapping developing friendship along the way. Using a ATC sized trading card protective sheet there are room for at 9-18 journeys, and I thought it would be a lovely idea to send a ATC from the original sender to gift the first person it goes to, and then that person adds an ATC for the journal and and ATC as a gift for the next person they send to. Individual swaps are encouraged if anyone would like to do those on this group. Please contact the host of the traveling journal if you would like to start their journal. ATC protective sheets can be purchased at Walmart under the name Base ball card protective sheets. Thank you"
