This was done with a Tradio Pen, which is not waterproof, so when you come back in after drawing the subject, using a wet brush with a touch of watercolor paint, it makes the ink run in fun and unexpected ways. This was done for a challenge on a Facebook group. 

I got really loose on this one. Sewing Stuff.

I always wanted to paint beer bottles, but my lettering is not so good, so practice makes perfect, well, at least better than last time. National Cherry Day was July 16, and our theme for 30/30 is Cherries and Cold, so the next one hits both topics, Cold Ice Cream on top of Cherry Pie.

Pie has been on my mind for awhile, and finding a vegan version that does not cost an arm and a leg and that tastes good, with soy ice cream, and gluten free, well, let's just say, it's mostly a dream dessert. If I choose to eat dessert, I usually skip the rest of the meal, and NO GUILT.

I believe in the saying, Life is Short, Eat Dessert First. And I always remember how to spell it because everyone wants more than one dessert, so put two s's in it. No one wants more than one desert (one s). LOL.

More Cherries, this time Cerises (French) and more lettering practice. I know, it does not fit on the ACEO card, sorta runs off the edge, but that's what I get for going loose and sketchy. Next time I should plan ahea...d like they say.

I was going to write down a little blurb about how I do my loose, sketch, watercolor faces, but then I found a great little article on how to do 10 minute atc card faces with watercolor and pen.  Not as colorful as mine, but the technique is very similar. I leave more white space, I think, and lots of loose washes.  This is a great site for inspiration and information and they have 20 free magazines you can download to your computer for FREE.  Did I say FREE?

These fun little ATC watercolors shouldn’t take more than 10 to 15 minutes each. They’re quick and easy to create, even for fairly new painters. The trick is to not worry about getting things perfect. You need to paint intuitively, which means you should be more interested in plopping down some shapes and shadows to suggest facial features rather than painting in actual features.

Start with a wet watercolor board or paper that you have and plop on your paints to form a very basic facial shadow. This should take about 20 seconds. Let dry and continue with another shadow/shape layer, slowing forming into a face. Each layer should take no more than a minute. You’re painting intuitively here, not realistically. Once you have a shape you’re happy with, take your ink pen and outline some features. Add funky lines and bubbles but don’t spend a lot of time making things perfect. These little ATCs are 10-minute bits of fun!

Entry for Virtual Paint Out Nov 2012

I just submitted my first painting for the Virtual Paint Out in November.  This is where you go to Google and travel around the world, virtually, and paint a picture from the images you find.  This month is Nova Scotia, Canada.  Find all the rules etc on their blog and facebook pages.  It's really great to see all the different ones that people have posted, although another person did a laundry scene, similar to mine.  I guess we like to paint clothes on the line.

Mine is an ATC (2.5 x 3.5) ACEO card which is up for auction on EBAY at the present time.  There is a bid on it so if you want it, better hurry!
