The Winner of my "Two Lilies" painting is Sharon Bright of Clive, Ohio!  Congratulations, Sharon!

This week's Art Work . . .

At the Beach
I am quick sketching more now using a fine liner pen. These are "Gesture Drawings," preliminary sketches in my 4x6 notebook. . .

eventually turn into 2x3 inch Acrylic and Pen Artomat blocks.
I am making 100 of these, no two alike.

Thanks to Lynn at Paper, Paint, Pencils and Pens for the topic.

  1. Wonderful, Penny! Both the sketches in pen and with the added watercolor. I must get back to real art and quit playing with alcohol inks!

    1. Thanks, Faye. I am going to focus on Pets from now on. I need to get a niche market going. I am too spread out! The artomat blocks keep me busy but not in groceries! LOL.

    1. Thanks, Ann. I just started sketching. Before I used to just paint directly on the surface without any idea what I was going to do. This is much better!

  4. Penny I read your comment to Faye and I was thinking have you framed and put those food paintings in a small kitchen store, or a little specialty stores of some sort.. one with housewares and such! They are so gorgeous! I love both those and your pets!!

    1. Hi, Sarah, Yes I have been doing it for over a year. Last year I sold over 300 of them. Actually, the sold them through the cig machines. It is not much money, but I love doing it. I do two series; Painted Posies and Painted People. Some of the pictures of the blocks I have done are in my flikr account. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pennystewart/sets/

  8. Your drawings are wonderful - so much movement - I have been experimenting with gesture paintings. Love how alive they are - also have used a dip pen for this - they are fun!
