Watercolor sketching with Pen and Ink, PPF

ACEO Artist Sketch Cards, Miniature Painting
Watercolor and Pen, Line and Wash, 2.5 x 3.5 inches
Available for purchase in my EBAY store.

The Open Door

Robin Red Breast

Two Red Macaws: Birds of a Feather

I have been doing more Crochet than painting lately. Recently I got back into using pen and ink with watercolor and I remembered how much I enjoy this style of loose painting.  I first sketch in pencil, then use a fine point permanent ink pen or marker, and finally add watercolor washes and if needed more liner work.  Very satisfying, relaxing and quick to do.

ACEO Theme Week on Ebay, Pink and Red, Paint Party Friday, PPF

I cannot believe it has been almost a year since I have posted on my blog. I have been busy, but still, I used to post every week.

So, here are a few things I have been doing:

This is Feb 1, and on the first of the month it is ACEO TW which is a themed challenge. This being February, the theme is Red and Pink. I have three entries. They are all 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the first one being TWO cards for the price of one. People have been collecting, trading and creating these tiny artworks for ages! I have made more than 1,000 of them. I sell on Ebay if you are curious about more of my Artist Trading Cards, or Art Card Editions and Originals. I also have other sizes of paintings in my Ebay Store, called Pink Gypsy, so you know I love pink! https://www.ebay.com/str/pinkgypsy

Mexican Folk Art Marionette Puppets Alcohol Ink PPF

ACEO size art, done for a challenge on Facebook
2.5 x 3.5 inches

This pair of marionettes remind me of my roots as "Penny Puppet" because for 10 years I was a puppeteer doing hand puppets, marionettes and ventriloquism.

All marionettes are puppets, but not all puppets are marionettes. Think about it. There are hand puppets, shadow puppets, etc.

I love working with the bright colorful alcohol inks on photo paper (cheaper than yupo) and this time I did not trace or sketch beforehand. I just picked up a brush and started painting. They sort of appeared like this. I think I will not put any background since they are hanging in mid air, like marionettes do, but most of the time these are all tangled up and it can take a lot of time to get them straightened out!

I am leaving the bits of color outside of the lines as well, because the liner work was done last, so it defines the figures, and the extra dashes of color are part of their charm!

Castle Painting, Mixed Media

One of the challenge groups I belong to offered this one for painting.
Challenge 71 - Boldt Castle Entrance Tower on Heart Island in the Saint Lawrence River

About the photo reference
At the boundary between Canada and US, along the St Lawrence river there are more than 1000 islands. Some are as small as a few rocks together and some big enough to have an entire castle built on it.
On the US side, there is an island called Hart Island, where the Boldt castle was built by a husband for his wife who unfortunately did not live long enough to see it. Nowadays it is a tourist attraction,  in the process of being restored and finished.
The photo above shows one of the entrance towers at the edge of the island. I love the architecture and old aged stone bricks against blue sky and blue running water. I hope you would enjoy painting and drawing it.

Anyone can join the challenges at http://paintanddrawtogether.blogspot.com/. They are usually fun but this one was difficult for me.

More Acrylic Pouring PPF

My mind is racing with ideas and creativity. I have this new obsession of pouring acrylic paint. I have made some larger ones, but the smalls seem to be my favorite.

Turquoise Pour, and these were dipped (ACEO's) 2.5 x 3.5 inches.
I really like this color combo. So much to see here.

Last time I showed a pour on a mat board and I found this picture I had done that fit into the frame, so here is the Pumpkin Flower in the Acrylic Poured and Dipped Mat

Can you find the Jungle Man in this ACEO below?
He surprised me, too. I was not intending to paint him.  LOL.

Last Friday's Pours lying on the floor drying.

Bookmarks - possibly for Christmas Stocking Stuffers

This is a button with a pin back, about 3 inches wide.

Likewise, a button, or a frig magnet??? Might be.

Okay, so I have done some 12x16's as well. Let me know if you see anything you like.
