I like to paint abstracts to relax my mind.
The wood is painted on all four sides continuing the design.
This miniature Square acrylic painting is done on a 6x6 inch wooden panel 3/4 inch deep, and the sides are painted with a continuation of the abstract design over the edges. It is varnished with a gloss finish to protect it from dust, but it MUST not be displayed in direct sunlight. The colors are fugitive so they tend to fade over time if exposed to light.
These are the brightest colors I could find, neon fluorescent psychedelic acrylics, dripped, splattered, dropped and dabbed, with very thick paint. The Fluorescent colors glow beautifully under black light. Seriously. Homage to the 70's. You really need a black light to get the full effect. I was inspired to use neons after seeing paintings by Francoise Nielly. She paints huge colorful faces that really rock! Look her up to see fabulous portraits of famous people.
I got a new set of Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics and I had to try them out. This is a Skyscape, Cityscape, and/or Landscape but I named it Cloudscape, if that's a word. 2.5 x 3.5 inches, ACEO size. Miniature art, done with a palette knife impasto style, heavy thick paint.
I am thinking about what to paint for 30 paintings in 30 days in September. Landscapes? Flowers? I am pretty sure they will be ATC size because I don't have much room to store any more paintings.
