Watercolor Week

I seem to be in a watercolor mood this week. The class I have been taking for 3 years is on hiatus for Thanksgiving week, so I am not doing any assignments, just playing with fun stuff.  My daughter took a photo of an old teddy bear at the swap meet because she thought I might like to use it for a reference.  I think it would look great in a baby's room, but there are no little ones in our family right now so I am auctioning it on Ebay.

The Red Tulip was fun because it was painted upside down, from a lesson I found online. I love the way watercolors in the background blended using the wet in wet technique.

Here are some Christmas/Holiday cards I painted for the Pasadena Senior Center art show on Dec 3. They will be sold for $5 and the money donated to the center. My weekly Watercolor Art Class is held at the PSC every week, and we have a lovely bunch of artists in the group. 

I also entered 3 of my paintings in the judging, which are also for sale.

The  painting I did in class of the baby raccoon for the Julian California Art Exhibit at Banner Gallery won the people's choice award!  Isn't that great?

Baby Raccoon Acrylic Painting goes to Julian

I think I have decided to take my acrylic painting of a baby raccoon to the Art Show and reception that our class is going to do in Julian on May 8 at Banner Queen Art Gallery. I like it best of all my paintings so far, and it took a long time to paint. I fiddled with it and played around with it forever.  The reason I chose to do a raccoon is that our class was doing wildlife and we watched a video that inspired me.

NOTE:  Did you know that there are painting shows on television every day?  I watch Bob Ross, Susan Schweewe and David Dunlop right now.  Go to www.createtv.com and see the current schedule.  It's a PBS station, and we get it even though we don't have cable, just an antenna.

Back to the Racoon:  My eyes are not that good so I at first thought he had 6 toes, but one of the toes was a knot on the tree, so I had to paint that out. That's the beauty of acrylics for me, never impossible to fix a mistake.

I guess he is Rocky the Raccoon, but that's not very original -- Any suggestions for a better title?
