It's a Mardi Gras theme this week in my Facebook ACEO 30/30 group. I love the bright colors after a week of painting dull presidents! All of these were done with watercolor and pen.

 I painted my friend's Dog three times in Watercolor, Pen and ink.

"Walking and Talking" ACEO

Two people, a man and a woman, strolling down the street wearing warm winter coats.  There's a chill in the air, and maybe in the conversation.  She seems to be a little distant and he is trying to console her, or maybe there are too many people around, a crowd, and he is steering her towards their destination.  Who knows?  These little drawings are sort of abstract.  They appear in the painting at the last stage and I have to make up little stories about their lives.  Oh, and it's all happening in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.  ACEO refers to the size - 2½” x 3½” - also called an ATC or artist’s trading card. "Waiting in the Wings" ACEO

Day 23 of 30 paintings in 30 days. A couple dressed in period costumes, waits in the wings for their turn to do their thing on the dance floor. Is that a Zoot Suit? They look nervous to me, or anxious to get out there and do the Charleston and win the Ballroom Dance Contest at Mardi Gras.

You may have noticed the general theme of my 30 in 30 is Mardi Gras.  This one and 2 others are representational of contestants in the evening dance competitions, which are very popular!  This seems to be a series within a series.  Couples? Dancers?  If there are more than 2, it must be a series.

ACEO "Marionettes" - I was a professional puppeteer for 10 years and officially lived as Penny Puppet for that time, so I can understand why hand puppets, marionettes, Punch and Judy and others find their way into my paintings.  It's all connected.  These would be string puppets from a show at Mardi Gras, I suppose.
