Stained Glass Windows, Dragonfly and Freeform Crochet

Stained Glass Windows

Painted Dragonfly ACEO 2.5 x 3.5 inches
This is my entry for Nibblefest this month, which starts on the 20th. All bids begin at 99 cents on Ebay for one week. The NFAC Dragonfly theme inspired me to mimic the wearable art I designed this week, keeping with the stained glass motif. I will be listing this one on Ebay Sept 20th.

Freeform Crochet Scarfette and Beret
My latest wearable ART freeform crochet hat and scarfette inspired by a bit of variegated yarn. Look closely in the little circles. It reminded me of a stained glass window so I just went with that and finished it in a couple of days, and made a French beret hat to match. Available on Etsy. This is a one of a kind bold statement for brave fashionistas!

Paint Party Friday: Painting Pigs Again

Paint Party Friday:  Still Painting Pigs

It has officially become an obsession.  I started out painting one a week for auction on ebay to raise money for ironwoodpigsanctuary.org and then I painted two a week, and now I can't stop. Here is my latest.  If she doesn't sell she will also go to auction.  Gosh, that feels almost like going to slaughter!  Poor piggy!

Day 26: Face 26 "Stylish Lady"

ACEO:  "Stylish Lady" with hat and gloves

Although you cannot see the gloves, I am sure she is wearing them.  Her stylish outfit demands white gloves.  Watercolor and pen.

Day 20: Self Satisfied, Smug, Arrogant?

Day 20:  Self Satisfied, Smug, Arrogant?
ACEO 2.5 x 3.5 inches

Only 9 more days in Ayala's 29 Faces Challenge.  Back to the Bright and Colorful abstract people.  This guy seems to be very self assured.  Middle aged hippie?  He knows he is still good looking, and has it all together, at least that's what his expression says to me.

Day 17 of 29 Faces

Visit Ayala Art's page about 29 Faces Challenges:
"Undecided"  ACEO, watercolor and Pen

The expression says it all.  Can't make up my mind.  This has been fun, but another 12 faces in this style?  They are starting to all look alike to me, so I have switched to a very different look for tomorrow, using gouache.  Check back to see what the opposite of this looks like.

ACEO refers to the size - 2½” x 3½” - also called an ATC or artist’s trading card. Signed by artist. Complete contact info on back - comes in a protective sleeve. The photo looks bigger, but it is truly the size of a baseball card. Original, not a copy, painted with acrylics on heavy paper.

Day 16 of 29 Faces

Day 16 of 29 Faces in 29 Days:  Feb 2013
"Good Bones" ACEO

Watercolor and liner work with ink.  I used less paint this time.  She has a very "clean" look and resembles some movie star, can't think who, but that was unintentional.   It's just a woman with pronounced facial features, or "Good Bones."

Day 15 of 29 Faces

Day 15:  ACEO: The Schnoz

Schnoz refers to the large nose on this guy.  I remembered the term from watching Jimmy Durante on TV as a kid, a very young kid.  They referred to him then as The Great Schnozolla.

Day #5 of 29 faces

ACEO:  "A Handsome Man"

Somehow I missed putting this one up.  I think he was Day 3, but now there are 5, so he has to be here.  I don't know how to add posts between posts.

#3 and #4 of 29 faces in Feb 2013

Two More Faces/Portraits:  Very loose watercolor and pen, abstract style, done for 29 faces challenge.  Illustrative, figurative, not sure what would describe it best.  I like the looseness and the freedom of painting the washes first and then doing a bit of liner work and finding the face in there.  Bright colors and pensive expressions.  My new style.

29 Faces in Feb 2013: DAY 2

"BIG LIPS" ACEO

Abstract, Colorful, and sorta kinda wild!  I love painting these little cards, and using watercolor and pen and lots of bright colors.  Day 2 of 29 Faces.  More to follow.  I need challenges and contests to keep me inspired, I guess.  And it's fun.  ACEOs and ATCs are so much fun to paint, and so much less stressful than a larger work. I have painted almost 300 now. Some I traded (ATC) and some I sold (ACEO), but they are all originals, one of a kind, not prints.  I may make prints eventually, but for now, not.

Something a little bigger. Yes, I can paint an 8 x 10, if I want to! This watercolor was done for my Thursday afternoon Watercolor class, which makes me do things I would not ordinarily try. Day 21 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"Gypsy Dancer"  ACEO

This is Day 21 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days.  I am keeping to my Mardi Gras Theme, sort of.  Bright Colors, Dancing in the Streets, fun and frivolity.  It's Carnivale and New Orleans and party time!  Done in loose watercolor and pen.
